Hosting International Sporting Events

Many countries compete with each other to win a chance to host international sporting events like Olympics and world cup. These events bring many benefits to the host country while some people believe otherwise. Let us first look at some of the down sides of hosting these events.

First of all it costs host country a lot of money to prepare the infrastructure. Apart from developing stadiums, road networks, a lot of money is required to make the living arrangements for hundreds of players and journalists who visit during the games. Government also needs to control and look after hundreds of thousands of fans flowing in from around the world. This is another cause of concern for the antagonists of big events.

Many people believe that foreigners will spoil their culture. Plenty of times we have seen mobs of fans drinking on the roads while singing. Sometimes this can lead to anarchy and put bad impression on the locals.

Other than these, sporting events bring a horde of benefits for the host country. First of all they provide positive advertisement on global scale. Tourism industry benefits more than anything else. For example, number of tourists visiting Australia was increased after the Sydney Olympics of 2000.

These events provide an excellent opportunity for local governments to develop sports infrastructure in the country and make future generations adopt sports. These events help to inspire children to take up sports which in turn help to raise health index of the country.

In the end, apart from some minor problems, big sporting events helps a country a lot to rise among other countries along with developing good habits in its progeny.
